18EZ
is hand-made by Andrew / Clay Games. For those who are
familiar with this type of game, this is not at all uncommon.
Most 18xx games are produced by independent self-publishers.
This does mean that the level of finish may not be equal to that
of the commercially produced games from large publishers, but
the game itself has been thouroughly tested over the past year,
and I am confident in the quality of gameplay that 18EZ offers.
There
are two boards. The stock market is a (roughly) 11x17in bi-fold.
The map board is (roughly) 22x17in. You have the option of
ordering it in two-pieces, or as a single quad-fold. The boards
are laminated, mounted on matboard, and the edges are cut flush
with the artwork. They do not have a vinyl wrap like most
commercially-produced American games.
The cards and tiles and
charters are printed on 110# cardstock, and laminated. They are
pre-cut, and ready to play. No punching or cutting required!
Tokens
are ¾ inch plastic chips. I include printed labels to
affix to the tokens. That will be the only thing necessesary to
do before playing.
The rulebook measures 8.5” x 11”
and is printed in full color.
The
box is a rigid 2 piece telescoping box, like most gamers are
used to. It'll be about 8.5 x 11 x 2in deep. There is not an
insert, but I will provide poly bags for all of the components.
We do not offer a lot of options like some some small
publishers do. Frequently to keep costs down, much of the work
is left up to the customer to do themselves. I have decided to
do most of this work instead! There are only 2 decisions I am
leaving up to the customer. One is the option of deleting the
paper money. Since many 18xx players use poker chips instead of
paper money, I think that this option may be appreciated by some
of our customers. The other is the option
of a two-piece board.* Making the quad-fold boards is rather
labor intensive, and requires me to do much of the assembly in
my (unheated) garage. With winter upon us, I'd be more than
happy to give a discount to anyone who will save me the effort!
